Interesting - the idea that the loss of love can allow you to become more beautiful - as if tears have the power to alter your appearance.

In the Witches of Eastwick, Darryl Van Horn (Jack Nicholson's devilish character) talks about the 3 D's that make a woman beautiful: Death, Divorce & Desertion.
It's not so much the tears, it's the determination to shed no more, methinks.
I love it! I am going to have to go home and rewatch the Witches of Eastwick. Perhaps you are correct, it is determination or even a new found inner-strength.
Or just right there, on the surface & as simple as that: you wanna LOOK GOOD so you can attract MORE LOVE.
